If you know me, then you probably know that I am obsessed with my drawer cart! I keep it right next to my therapy table, and I use it on a daily basis. I’ll show you how I use it, but I’ll also share four more ways you could use this awesome cart! (I might just have to buy more!)
NOTE: The links below are Amazon Affiliate links for your convenience, but I may receive compensation if you click through and purchase one of the books. *
Wondering where to find this cart? You can find it on Amazon here or at a craft store (like Michael’s or Jo-Ann Fabric).
1. Card Decks
I sorted my decks by therapy topic and made labels. I can use the decks with a variety of activities, so it makes for easy, low prep therapy!
Here are some of the decks I love:
Natalie Snyders – High Stakes Vocabulary
Nicole Allison – Context Clues
Peachie Speechie – Inferencing Decks
Kelly Workman – Tons of decks here too!
2. Homework
You could also use the drawers to store your homework activities/worksheets. You could make packets for every kid and make a label for each day of the week. Another option is to sort by different goal areas (e.g., articulation, vocabulary, etc.). Use paperclips or binder clips to keep your papers organized.
3. Thematic Units
Use these drawers to organize your units! You could keep books, activities, craft templates, etc. all in one place. Use binder clips, gallon bags, or plastic envelopes to keep the pieces together. (Links below!)
4. Craft/Office Supplies
You could use some (or all!) of the drawers for pens, pencils, paint, and other materials. Using plastic organizers would make it super organized!
5. Student Folders
You could keep your working files/folders in this cart, too! Sort by therapy schedule, grade, or group.
I know there must be many more ways to use these drawer carts. Let us know in the comments if you use them for something else!

Great ideas, Marisha! I had my eye on this cart at Michael’s but opted for something less expensive and sadly, less cute. 🙂 Ah well. Thanks for the great ideas of what to put in each drawer… you’d be surprised how long it can take to simply decide what should go where.

Haha love it! The (very serious) dilemmas of a school SLP ;D

My room is so small I don’t have room for a drawer cart. A table and four chairs are a squeeze ! Since I have a cupboard I do use the Costco set of colorful boxes with latches. I label them by theme or content (Cariboo cards, Arctic and literature books, Pirate Week). I I do the last week of every month as a theme week and the kids love it! In Oct. we hunt glow in the dark spiders with flashlights for Halloween week (think following directions, or prepositions) , Leprechaun week in March (there was an old lady who swallowed a clover) , Pirate week for art, anyway you get the idea.
Marisha says
That sounds like a great set up, Melissa! Thanks for sharing!

I love the idea of having only one theme at the end of the month. I’m going to try that!
Marisha says
Awesome! I’d love to hear how that goes for you!

Where did you find those cute labels? And what do each of them say?
Marisha says
Aw thanks! I made them (but lost the template…!). You can find a lot of cute labels on Teachers Pay Teachers though!

Thanks so much! I just got this cart as well (I got mine at Sam’s Club!) and have been agonizing over how to organize it. I think I might try by topic (artic, language, etc.) but I have a feeling I might get that done and change my mind and want to do something else haha very real school SLP struggles! 😛
Marisha says
Haha yes! Very real struggles! I hope you find an awesome system that works for you, Faith! 😀
